Carbidopa-levodopa? If I were so afflicted, before going too far down the carbidopa spiral, I would be inclined to investigate an L-dopa treatment not having the depletion side-effects of carbidopa. The research done by Dr. Marty Hinz is fascinating. Take a peek here :

I would certainly pursue the best treatment available for the symptoms until the causative factor (fungi?) behind the disorder is identified and a curative course of treatment is found.
