Nutrition and hydration are NOT "medication." They are "Ordinary Care." Everybody needs it and everybody, young or old, strong or weak, will die if nutrition and hydration are deliberately withdrawn.

This is not "natural death." These people are not passing away naturally from an underlying disease process. They are dying from intentional starvation/dehydration.

This decision to make the patient die via hunger and thirst is not because the doctor/bureaucrats think that nutrition is futile and will not keep the patient alive. They're afraid that itwill keep the patient alive. They're not afraid he'll die. They're afraid he'll live.

The fact that the patient is presently successfully getting what he needs from, say, a NG tube has nothing to do with it. A NG tube is not high-tech, it's no more "unnatural" than a sippy cup or a straw.

The most galling thing is the idea that starving to death is in the patient's "best interest."

Nobody is healthier dead.
