Why does twitter suppress right wing comments? Probably for business reasons. I’ve been commenting on the internet for decades, and I’ve noticed that left wingers cannot tolerate contrary views. Literally CANNOT tolerate. They will try hard to suppress right wingers, but when faced with people making reasoned arguments that they cannot counter, and cannot suppress, they leave the forum.
Thus, forum managers who want to maintain an audience containing left wingers, have to suppress the right.
If twitter and Facebook allowed Trumpers to post freely, it would spark an exodus.
Not just Twitter but Facebook, google and a bunch more
What is Twitter’s attraction? Are we Americans so insecure, so lonely that we need this crutch?
“If twitter and Facebook allowed Trumpers to post freely, it would spark an exodus.”
Which would be followed by an influx of users and advertisers.
NPR and The Atlantic shut down their comments sections to solve that problem. Other excuses were given but were hard to credit. Conservatives in both forums were overwhelmingly respectful and reasoned, and they more than held their own. There were intelligent liberals who did the same. The moronic hatespeech, however, was overwhelmingly on the left, and I think it embarrassed the editors. Badly done leftist articles, of which there were many, were also regularly destroyed. The leftist response: shut down the discussion. Leftists want an ideological monoculture and an echo chamber media.
