I recall hearing Paul McCartney sing that song. And he sang it very well. I was certain that he had written it, but no, that song was from a movie that came out years before he recorded it. The song is similar to some of his best original music,
such as Here, There & Everywhere.

'Til There Was You" is the correct line and title.

The song originated in the Meredith Wilson 1957 stage show and 1962 movie, The Music Man, a duet between Harold Hill, the traveling salesman, and "Marian, the librarian."
