Being a Christian nation, naming is paternal-based.

I have always thought the hyphenated name was stupidity. Consider the names I would have had to deal with. My last name is Weathersby. My Mother’s maiden name was Zuiderhoek. I have been planning to get a jersey with the hyphenated name Zuiderhoek-Weathersby just to make fun of the clowns.

Why stop at parents? Why not grandparents? Then my jersey would read: Zuiderhoek-Roy-Money-Weathersby.

Our culture has become ridiculous.

I agree with you about the hyphenated names, except in one case.

A relative of mine married a woman whose first name was “Kelly”. His last name is “Kelly”. I’m sure you can see the problem.

This was one instance where hyphenating was the best way to go.
