Important correction here: the first pill in the 2-pill abortion series is mifepristone, or antiprogesterone, followed by prostaglandin.

Mifepristone kicks off abortion by blocking progesterone, the natural hormone that maintains the pregnancy. Progesterone can be administered to reverse the effect of the abortion pill, if it is taken soon enough.

I wanted to make that clear so women aren't afraid to take prescribed progesterone to safeguard their early pregnancies.

I stand corrected. I did not know that. Progesterone definitely saves a pregnancy, so of course there must be something in the first pill to counteract that. I wish I could remove my post above.
