There was a recent article stating (FWIW) that 90+% of the plastic garbage in the oceans comes from 10 rivers - all from Africa, East Asia, Central/South America, and the like.

But idiot protesters try to ban plastic bags and straws etc. in the developed Western nations, whence just about nothing originates from. Damn, these people are stupid...
