CLEARWATER, Fla. — Hundreds from around Tampa Bay marched with the family of the Clearwater man fatally shot over a parking spot.
Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri says the shooting was justified under Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law. The deadly shooting at a convenience store in unincorporated Clearwater occurred Thursday.
Sgt. Spencer Gross of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office tells ABC Action News the shooting stemmed from an argument over a parking spot.
Deputies said Michael Drejka, of Clearwater, confronted a woman who parked in a handicapped parking space outside the Circle A Food Store on Sunset Point Road.
Witnesses told deputies the two were arguing because Drejka was upset the woman parked there even though she wasn't handicapped. The woman's boyfriend, Markeis McGlockton, of Clearwater, was inside the store to buy his little boy a candy bar, according to the store owner.
McGlockton exited the store to defend his girlfriend and shoved Drejka to the ground.
Drejka responded by taking out a pistol and shooting McGlockton in the chest. McGlockton ran back into the store where his five-year-old son was standing at the front door, watching the entire incident happen right before his eyes. McGlockton fell to the ground inside of the store and he was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Investigators say multiple people witnessed the shooting and called 911.
Drejka is a legal concealed weapons permit holder and will not be charged because of Florida's Stand Your Ground law, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

It could be a cultural misunderstanding. In “Dead Guys” culture, a blind side tackle into pavement could mean, “Hey, I want to be your friend”, and in “Mr. Parky monitors” culture, it might mean, “Hey, I’m gong to kill you if you cant stop me”.
So, maybe its just a matter of diversity and culture training? It could be that simple. I’m hearing you. I get it.
I was just looking over the satellite images and the video images of the scene.
Drejka didn't pull in and park at the store.
He pulled into the parking lot, drove up to the other car, and jumped out of his vehicle, which was NOT in a parking space. It was just sitting out in the lot about 10 feet away from the nearest parking spot.
He also took the time to go around the back of the car and check its plate for a handicapped indicator...
The news clip I got those photos from had a former US attorney chick on, wringing her hands about the Stand Your Ground law, with a lot of disinformation about Zimmerman and little Tray-Tray.
Total hitpiece.
Then he jumped straight into the confrontation.
I think the guy that told McGlockton what was going on told him just that scenario.
If I would have been McGlockton, I might have done something rash, too, if "some dude" zoomed up to my wife in a car and started some sh*t right away.
The State attorney's office has GOT to prosecute.

Amazing to me that freepers on this thread think that being pushed to the ground is just a minor thing and he should have just taken it.

My wife has a handicapped placard due to a wound from her diabetes on her foot that hasn’t healed in over a year.
We stopped to eat after a wound care treatment and all 4 handicapped spots were full of cars that were not handicapped.
I sat and watched as we ate and all 4 were large black women, clearly not handicapped. There are certain people who feel they are entitled to anything (mainly because the media keeps telling so).

I am 57 myself and if I am attacked by a larger person who hits me, I will try to kill him as fast as possible. There is no way I can out fight him fairly or out run them, so once you make the effort to actually attack me, I will do my best to kill you as fast as possible. That’s the facts.
He hit the ground hard when he was ambushed by a larger man who was 20 years younger. Yes I would have shot him.

Yes I mentioned it, but they were busy and we parked not too far away. My wife can still walk, so it wasn’t that big a deal there, as I found a spot not too far away.
Now, some place like Wal-Mart would be a different thing, if she had to park far, far away.
