Trump is taking US down the path to tyranny (CNN alert)
CNN ^ | 07/23/2018 | Jeffrey Sachs

Posted on 07/24/2018 4:32:08 AM PDT by Category Four

The United States was born in a revolt against the tyranny of King George III. The Constitution was designed to prevent tyranny through a system of checks and balances, but in President Trump's America, those safeguards are failing.

Donald Trump holds the grandiose belief that only he should rule America. Unchecked by cowed or complicit Republicans in Congress, Trump invokes executive authority to alter policies and practices long established by law and treaty.

Days after his summit meeting with Vladimir Putin, no one knows what the two autocrats agreed to, or even talked about -- not the President's top aides, nor the Pentagon, nor security establishment or Congress, never mind the rest of us. And in the midst of the ensuing uproar, Trump has invited Putin to Washington, without telling his top intelligence official and no doubt most other key aides and officials.

Most of Trumps EO’s are rescinding the previous administrations EO’s.

Hey, Sachs, you idiot: where are your hand-wringing articles from the eight years that your boy, the preening, narcissistic, demigod Barry Soetoro, was infesting the White House? That period is when you could find some real material on authoritarianism.

You’ve examined them and know that?

Most seem to be extensions or additions to past EOs.

The “tyranny” is coming from the stinking lawyers in DC who believe they are above the law and have entrenched themselves deep into our government.. They have dug themselves deep into every government organization and are using our own tax dollars against us.. Subverting our "Republic" into some kind of sick, twisted turd world democratic socialistic police state that will end up killing us all..!! Like ticks on a dying dog they will continue to suck until nothing is left... No honor, no integrity, and certainly justice..! :(

And he’s doing it by cleverly putting judges on the Supreme Court who believe in a smaller, limited government, and constitutional restraints. Clever.

Worse, people will be able to say and print whatever they want, pray and worship freely, and to cap it off, they'll have more money in their wallets.

Even more diabolically, he is directing federal agencies to reduce regulations and bureaucratic impediments to economic activity. All those people with jobs, it'll be horrific!

Jefferey Sachs, the author:

Here is just one review of his book “End of Poverty”.

“Jeffrey Sachs’ ‘The End of Poverty’ is a noble effort to eliminate extreme poverty around the world. He creates a differential diagnosis that is meant to apply situational specific solutions to countries around the world.”

“When Sachs focuses on development theory, specifically why we need more aid, he truly shines. The developed world needs to cancel debt and institute drastically more aid (which would still only be .7% GNP).”

“Where Sachs fails is his distorted sense of history. Sachs’ chapters on Bolivia, Poland, China, India, and Russia all omit VERY important facts and in some cases downright lie. Sachs sprinkles the book with quotes by Keynes but make no mistake: his policy prescriptions are straight from Milton Friedman. The affect of his policies were a disaster in Bolivia, Poland, and especially Russia (Read Naomi Klein’s: The Shock Doctrine). Many development economists would strongly disagree with Sachs on the causes of success in India and China. Sachs views them as successful due solely to liberalization. That is at best misleading and at times wrong.”

“Sachs goes throughout the books saying how he has continually proved the critics wrong. In nearly every chapter he talks about how men opposed his ideas and how history has proved that he was correct. In reality, to a large degree, this has not happened.”

“Read ‘The End of Poverty’ but take it with a grain of salt.”

He is considered a “renowned” economist. Why? He says what Liberals/Progressives and the Left love to hear - as in the “poor world” needs more international aid.

In my book he is a fraud, and everything he writes should be filed in the trashcan.

Trump's tariffs (under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962), the travel ban and his abrogation of the Iran nuclear deal were all made under the incantation of national security.

The first two things are perfectly legal, and the third was a reversal of a blatantly unconstitutional action (the non-treatywise treaty of the Iran deal). Even CNNNN seems to admit the legality of the first item.

The Constitution is not supposed to work this way. Under Article I, Section 8, the power to wage war rests with Congress. So does the power to levy taxes and tariffs. Yet in each case, an aggressive President may invoke national security to circumvent the Congress. Congress's chronic failure to oversee presidential war-making, prolonged troop placements and overseas bases, with this president and earlier ones, is similarly notorious.

I actually agree with this paragraph. Congress sucks at reining in autocratic warmongering by various Presidents. Even the blind squirrels at CNNNN occasionally find a nut. (I don't have a problem with Trump unilaterally destroying ISIS -- the War Powers Act basically allows him to do this for a time -- but Congress should have declared war against them long ago or asserted the War Powers Act against Trump at an appropriate time like they are supposed to.)

And Congress's failure to challenge Trump on his claims that Canada's steel and aluminum exports or China's consumer product exports constitute a "national security threat" is unforgivable.

But Congress's failure to meaningfully challenge Obozo on most things was undoubtedly fine with the socialists over at CNNNN.

It’s no coincidence that the media, dems and deep state operatives are putting out the same message about Trump’s tyranny.

They are shaping the hard Coup.

Tyranny. These people don’t know what tyranny looks like. This is just a good time.

We could do tyranny, and may have to before it’s all over. They’ll probably recognize it at that point.

Trump had his taxes leaked, illegally recorded conversations as a private citizen leaked, numerous threats of violence against his family and staff, attorney client privilege violated, countless smears and slanders by the media, systemic publically documented violations of civil rights against him and his associates BUT not a single arrest of any of these brown shirts.
If Trump is a dictator, he is doing it wrong

As the left in this country have never experienced true tyranny and that the weaponizing of the government by Obama was not targeting them, they can’t wrap their heads around PDJT. He *must* be Hitler in their minds. They’ve convinced each other this is true.

This is mob delusion and I’ve never seen the likes of it in my life. All inflamed by the likes of CNN. They really don’t realize they’re being lied to.

BS! What unconstitutional act has Trump taken? As opposed to Obama, who rewrote the immigration laws by executive fiat.
