I can’t believe I misspelled Bridgton no e or h. I know exactly where this beach, is which is well off the beaten path Woods Pond’s problem is that it is to small to serve as a public beach. Does not appear to have good inlet and outlet so the water stagnates. That is the definition of a pond. I thought this was in Denmark Maine until I just looked it up.

Exactly. Many of the "ponds" in south-central ME are damned streams, which have regular flow. This one must have something, but aerial map shows no active streams and roads nearly around the circumference, which would inhibit water flow.
Also, many of these lakes have public beaches, so not surprised that it was contaminated. It's a big deal in these lakes to limit exposure to out of state boats and populations. Such is our lake, which has strong in and out flow and limited public access.
