From the Toronto Sun article on the FR thread about this last night:
“Crime specialist Ross McLean said police at the scene told him, before they moved the shooters body from the scene, they had to check in for explosives.
“A little after midnight, police cleared media and bystanders away from an area near Broadview and Danforth in order to detonate a suspicious object inside of a trash can.”
“As of Monday morning, police still had the Danforth closed between Broadview and Pape Aves. and TTC subway trains were bypassing Chester station.”
Was this an attempt to stampede people into a subway station and then blow up a bomb?
Subway station is one possible target.
The suspect was heading east, and near the eastern end of what was blocked off by police, you will find a Greek-Orthodox Church.
There is also an RC Church kitty corner to the Orthodox Church (my wife was baptized in the RC Church), but shooting up Greek town and blowing up an Orthodox Church would be some culture’s idea of fun.
