I believe I’ve read, as well, that there are more Polish immigrants in the U.K. than Muslims, but they don’t get much publicity because they don’t make trouble. They form a significant chunk of Catholic parishioners in Britain.
I know there are a lot of Poles in the U.K. and Ireland, but I don’t know the exact numbers vis-a-vis Moslems. However, since Poland is an E.U. member, it’s extremely likely that Poles outnumber immigrants from anywhere but Commonweath countries.
The parents of Kathleen’s friend Caroline up the street are from Poland. Caroline’s dad has an electrical firm, and her mother teaches at the Polish School of Charlotte, which Caroline and her brother Robert attend. (I know this because Kathleen is disappointed that they don’t get home until 4:30 on weekdays.)
The UK has not pussified the Romanians.
If it wasn’t for Poles, there would be no Catholics left in Ireland.
