I thought aides were slaves who knew that being an aide for a General is a good for career advancement. This former aide just shot his career down.
Boy, if we thought that Patton was demanding during WWII, he would be crucified now.

Sounds like your typical aide to a BG. Pick up some laundry, write some letters, make some coffee and get a cushy Pentagon post in a year or two for your efforts. So what’s the beef?

"...pick up his laundry, remove and turn in his bed sheets for cleaning, provide meals and snacks, draft his unofficial correspondence, reserve gym equipment and collect financial and personal information Uribe needed to complete military paperwork..." Really that is it? It isn't like anyone who has ever served understands that if you are assigned to a position like that as a very junior enlisted man, you are going to be a gopher.
Weird.

Isn’t that why 2nd LTs were invented?
Some of the ‘great lines’ for military
A 2nd LT saying - It has been my experience.
The Navy called them Stewards Mates and they ‘hand and foot’ waited on, picked up after etc etc etc ALL the Officers aboard ship.

Wow, I would not have complained about doing those things, but if that really was inappropriate, it was not cool.

Aside from the personal assistant-type duties, which are usually the province of an aide-de-camp, the soliciting of gifts from lesser paid employees is highly questionable.

I thought he job of an aid was to free up time of a Flagg officer and to observe the flag officer as a learning experience for the day when they them selves might become a Flagg officer. all of the thing describe sounds like what I thought might be given to a second lieutenant or a enlisted individual.
My military experience is limited to the 13 weeks of basic training I went through 1n 1984 (I was discharged for not informing the military of a medical issue when I joined) it would be nice to hear from an officer about what he thinks was the reason for a public discipline.
All I know is the higher the rank the more valuable the time of the officer involved and the more important it is to free up time for that officer to do his duties that might be taking up 18 hour a day.

According to the report published this month, Uribe asked the aide to pick up his laundry, remove and turn in his bed sheets for cleaning, provide meals and snacks, [...]A Brigadier General is expected to pick up his own laundry, change his own bed linen?!

It will pay off in the long run to have done good work for me. What's it going to be? Tell me now. I'm in a hurry. I need someone to get a stool sample from my dog and then run it to the vet. When that's done, get back here right away for your next mission."

General’s aid or Admiral’s aid, have been doing the boss’ bidding for decades. This case can open a pandora’s box. Wait till the sexual harassment charges start coming.

What do Marine officers do when they are aides to a general???? Laundry pick up? Loans for the general? Personal paperwork for the general?
Maybe this general preferred that his female officer aide make him sammiches and take care of his dry cleaning. I guess the previous general did not require his male aide to do the same tasks, and someone took offense.
