Tha Apollo Moon era began when the Apollo 11 mission Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) wIth the call-sign of “Eagle” landed at Mare Tranquillitatis (Sea of Tranquility) [aka Tranquility Base] on Sunday, 20 July 1969 at 20:17:40 UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) which was 4:17:40 pm EST. Neil Armstrong made the first human footstep on the Moon at 02:56:15 UTC 21 July / 10:56:15 pm EST 20 July 1969.
It ended with the launch of the LEM “Challenger” upper/return stage of the Apollo 17 mission at 22:54:37 UTC on 14 December 1972. The total of this manned Moon Landing era was 7 missions with one (Apollo 13) abort, 12 American Astronaut Moon walkers and a gazillion gripes about the failures to follow-up. The last human footstep left on the Moon from that mission was from Eugene Cernan at 04:35 UTC / 12:35 am 14 December 1972.
This day next year (2019) will mark a half century since Neil Armstrong made that first human footprint on Luna. As it now stands, in all probability, 14 December 2022 will be long gone before the NEXT human sets foot on the Moon.
I SINCERELY HOPE I AM WRONG WITH MY PESSIMISM HERE!
Rejoice in being wrong. :)
It's okay. It's all about timing. Some things take a while for every detail to be positioned exactly right.
America is going to make the moon landing look small. People argue over Neil Armstrong's quote - was there an indefinite article or not. Quibbles bubble up over the smallest things.
The world will be forced into silence, no more beatdowns and desecration of America allowed. Watch for it.
