It’s the scientific approach. Two scientists find s space rock with green organic matter in a crack on the rock. They pick the stuff out and put it in a petrie dish, then place the dish in a small refrigerator and go home for the night. Next morning they come to the lab, the refrigerator and Petrie dish are destroyed in a corner and there’s a very large creature with green scales and a spiked tail laying in another corner. First scientist “whoa Willard what’s that?” Willard says “damned if I know but here take this stick and poke it “

Sorry. I should have mentioned I learned this important scientific methodology from Mr Gary Larsen. A well known observer/recorder of all events of human, animal, and planetary occurrences in the universe.

Indeed. This goes counter to jmacusa’s Number 1 Rule about stuff from space. Here it is : NEVER. Repeat, NEVER go poking stuff from outer space with a stick!
