lol—I tried sharing all of the information about our finances with my wife.
I handed her a five page Excel spreadsheet with _everything_ on it she could possibly want to know in the event I croaked.
Her response—that is too complicated. I don’t want to deal with it.

LOL! Can’t say you didn’t try. I divorced my one and only husband back in ‘79. I had to learn the hard way of dealing with a budget, while raising two sons. No way would I ever rely on anyone ever again when it comes to money. The only thing I’ve done is to put both of my sons on my checking account as co-owners. That way they can have access to it if I become incapacitated or die. I was co-owner on my sister’s checking and savings accounts, and when she passed, it made things a whole lot easier when settling her final debts. She owned nothing either, and had no Will. She’d already paid for her burial site years ago. The only thing I had to do was pay for her cremation and any other charges, and then apply for letters of administration the following year in order to file her last tax returns.
