I do believe that you are totally overthink the situation, look for a flaw, a wrong a mistake or something not inline with the spirit of the story a common trait among more that a few FReepers. May I suggest instead that you follow scripture and let it go.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things. Philippians 4:8

Regardless of the wisdom of walking 20 miles to get to a job when many alternatives are available... it is a great story about the generosity of people helping this promising young man. Thanks for posting it. So sorry about “overthinking” it... and thanks for the scripture. I will try to keep the following in mind...
