On the substance, his "correction" is just about pointless. No matter which way he says the "corrected" remark, he is saying that any hacking could have been by any country - implicilty rejecting IC fixation on Russia to the exclusion of all other actors.
I do agree though, the "correction" was delivered to drive the press and his detractors more crazy. IOW, he doesn;t really feel he misspoke yesterday, but with all the hoopla going on, he decided to give an appearance of backtracking. Strike while the iron is hot!
That's my read. This was his response to the dems and media's caterwauling.
