People in the UK seem to forget that Churchill was an American Citizen. His mother was American but that was not enough. An Official Act of The United States Congress made him a Citizen in 1963. That is the first time it was ever done.

Great reminder. It was the first time Congress bestowed honorary citizenship on a foreign national. Churchill had been granted honorary citizenship by eight states: Hawaii, Maryland, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and West Virginia.
