In reality, the cowboy culture embraced anyone who was willing to work hard: white, black (from Buffalo Soldiers to freed slaves), Mexican nationals, Chinese, Protestant, Catholic, and even Jews (think Levi Strauss, and yes, there were plenty of Jewish cowboys one even died in the Alamo)
Hard work discriminates against the lazy, change mascot to person in a lazyboy

And the drive to git-er-done in the face of adversity.
