When we moved to our place in 2011, I bought a used Craftsman rider with a 46” deck and used it to mow the acre or so around our house and left the rest of it as hay for a neighbor for his Angus cattle. But my wife hated all that long stuff surrounding our place. Plus, the last couple of years, every time I used that mower something broke, be it a belt, bent rod (I mentioned in another thread that a mouse had built a home around one of the cylinders, caking the cooling fins with dried mud), even a rabbit chewing through a fuel line. It took 2.5 hours to mow that acre.
Now the five acres takes the same time and same gas. And it’s like living in a park. It’s also fun to practice using my Irons on it (golf). That 60” zero turn changed our life. Funny how a mower does that. I should have bought it when we moved here.
I’ve heard of MTD but never seen one. Are they as fast as a Honda? :-D
I think that Honda has me beat. Lol. Once I cleaned up the
Fuel lines and changed the oil, it ran well. Just had to put an edge back on the blades after that.
Your rig sounds impressive. Probably out of my price range, though. Paid $300 for the Yard Machines mower and put another $150 into it to bring it up to snuff. No cup holder, though. Snif.
