Essentially, they’re paid Marxists from around the globe but most are educated in the USA with liberal arts degrees.

For a time they were too lazy, cheap or ignorant (or all three) to anonymize their registration info.
During one of the many attempts at exploiting a tragedy, the ‘Moms Demand Action’ campaign was launched. It also had other guises, including:

Mayors Against Gun Violence
Everytown For Gun Safety
etc.
A query of the WHOIS information for all the domains showed a common registrant - almost certainly a Bloomberg-funded operation. Even now the web sites are up and provide amusing examples of unalloyed propaganda.
