WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. A white man who challenged a black family's use of a private community's pool has not only resigned from the homeowner's association board he's also lost his job.
Sonoco announced Friday that Adam Bloom is no longer employed by the packaging and industrial products company, saying it doesn't condone discrimination of any kind, even if it happens outside its workplace.

Good post.
"...you seem very pleased that a man lost his livelihood over nothing..."
“You don’t come out and say it directly, but once again, you seem very pleased that a man lost his livelihood over virtually nothing. I don’t like to put those kind of vibes out into the atmosphere. But that’s just me.”
Yes, Mr. Bloom lost his job, but I tend to be on optimist as someone else got the job that Mr. Bloom once had.
Thus, it’s a Zero Sum Game.
I’m happy for the person who got Mr. Bloom’s job, and I am fully confident that Mr. Bloom will soon find employment.
“The employment or non-employment status of Jasmine Abhulimen / Jasmine Edwards / Sally Kirk has nothing to do with this news story.
When did you last speak with Jasmine Abhulimen / Jasmine Edwards / Sally Kirk to hear her side of this community pool account?”
The situation is much simpler than you propose.
Jasmine Abhulimen had an alias on Facebook and that name is “Jasmine Edwards.”
There is not a sign at the pool that states that persons who use an alias on Facebook may not swim in the pool.
You might be confused on “Sally Kirk”
Sally Kirk is the name of the street where Jasmine Abhulimen resides.
As for the incident at the pool.
The police officer at the scene said that Jasmine Abhulimenhad a right to be at the pool and that Chairman Bloom acted incorrectly.
The police chief said that Jasmine Abhulimen had the right to be at the pool and that Chairman Bloom acted incorrectly.
The HOA said that Jasmine Abhulimen had the right to be at the pool and that Chairman Bloom acted incorrectly.
Even Chairman Bloom has acknowledged that Jasmine Abhulimen had the correct credentials to be at the pool and has apologized for his actions.
At the end of the day, no one, not even Chairman Bloom is defending his actions.
I will stand by the police officer who determined that Ms. Abhulimen had the correct credentials to be at the pool
I will stand by the police chief who stated that had a right to be in the pool.
I will stand by Adam Bloom who stated that he made a mistake and has apologized for his actions of questioning Ms. Abhulimen membership in the HOA and her access to the pool area.
