Back in like 1971 I was buying textbooks to get my degree in Engineering, on the dead books counter I found a copy of Atlas Shrugged, I read the flyleaves, it sounded good, I bought the book, from then on I read all her works.

No I am not trying to get anyone to read her books, just stating, she affecting my life, nuff said.

Do I make a difference? Just read the books, Owen Kellog would like it.

Everybody needs to read the book or at least see the movies.

They could make them (movies) in different versions but tell the same story-sort of like the Marvel films.

The lefties _hate_ Ayn Rand with a passion.

That is all you need to know if you haven’t read her yet.

Listening to John Galt is on a par with listening to Donald Trump in audiobook The Art of The Deal.

I've recfently discovered the joy and benefit audiobooks have.

I HIGHLY recommend this recording.

(PS, I too "read" (as best I could at the time) Atlas Shrugged, a long time ago.)

When I read that book in 1981, a whole new world opened up for me. I was apolitical before then, but after reading it, how could I not change my fundamental political- and life- thought processes. In later years, I was very fortunate to have as a teacher to me non other than Dr. Leonard Peikoff, the intellectual, and financial heir of Ayn Rand.

Worst part of the book. I got to that part and literally put the book down for months before picking it up and finishing it.

Atlas would probably fit in a format like Amazon does with High Castle.

There is so much going on.

I’m glad the movies were made and I went to all three.

I regret not reading Atlas when I was an avid reader in my late teens.

No one ever mentioned the book it seemed from what I remember.

Agreed!

Atlas Shrugged should be required reading in college and Animal Farm in high school.

My daughter this past school year in 8th grade read her 1st Ayn Rand book Fountainhead for her language arts class. Only July 4th we were shopping at Books a Million and one of the books she purchased for summer reading was Atlas Shrugged.

I think I got about 20 pages into the speech in the book before I quit reading the speech and just scanned through it. If I recall correctly, the speech alone was some 60-65 pages long. It really completely lost me. If you have something that is really, really important to say like a series of key points, please do it in less than 65 pages. I’m pretty sure no single parable or event in the Bible runs 60-65 pages.

“This speech is endorsed by me, Ragnar Danneskjöld!”

I have a shirt with your name on it:

“Danneskjöld Recovery. Returning the gold of the world to its rightful owners”.

I’ve had it for a couple of years. To date only 2 people have gotten it.

Remember Francisco standing up for Hank Rearden at the party of one percenters? His speech seemed to have gone on for 10 pages. No party gets that intense. The author however really got into the subject. It explains why the book is 1100 pages. How many writers are so good that they can keep your attention throughout? I dedicated 2 hours every morning after a 5 mile walk to reading it. Took a month. Determination all around-author + reader.

That’s where I stopped reading.
Enjoyed what came before but that section was tedious and too pedantic to hold my interest.
