In the rear of the church in a shrine dedicated to The Four Chaplains. Are you familiar with that story? Fr. Washington was born in Newark , NJ and was assigned to St. Stephens. Washington Ave. was named in his honor. The story of the Four Chaplains is a harrowing and very moving story.
