Let me state that I was never a NeverTrumper. I was on the Trump Wagon since I read The Art of the Deal in 1988. When most FReepers called us Trumpets, I was a staunch defender of Trump. So, this is not about Trump.
This is about Florida, a state that I have called home since Nixon was president. The governor of a state does not make immigration policy for the nation but they do enforce the laws.
Florida has three major economies: hospitality for foreign workers, insurance/banking/healthcare for educated workers, and welfare for the rest. A few years ago, the state decided to change all the Community Colleges where a person could get a certificate or a 2-year degree into State Colleges that still offer some of that stuff, but they really work hard to get a student into a 4 year program (at a much higher tuition rate, of course). Putnam wants to get us Technical Colleges and the jobs that hire those people.
I have first-hand knowledge too because I hire Industrial Electricians. They have a different skill set than a commercial electrician who wires things up and leaves. Years ago, it was pretty easy to find qualified Industrial Electricians, but today it is almost impossible because young people who are smart enough to work competently with automation are getting engineering degrees, which does not teach them how to keep machines running.
As a Florida voter, I have to choose my governor based on what Florida needs. I believe that Putnam and Desantis will support Trump as governor of Florida.
As long as anyone votes for people who want to give the country away to fraudulently documented foreigners, our entire nation is at risk.
