Hmm, portray their “characters”, meaning characters other than who they are in real life, in a fictional setting. Totally not what Q is doing. He/they just aren’t telling us names or showing faces, which is as it should be.

Q is playing a game. He says so all the time. But it's not a game, he says. He has a sense of humor while pursuing deadly serious goals.

You play games in real life for a variety of legitimate purposes: for amusement [if this weren't fun Q would have lost everyone long ago], to create chaos, to confuse the other side, to create opportunities, openings you can take advantage of, swindle or goad the other side into making gross tactical or strategic errors.

Q has done all of these things.
