Back when comedy did not have to be politically correct when it comes to gays.

Intro is way too long. Can skip to about 2:20

Jonathan Winters was crazy before Robin Williams was.
Neither of them were kidding, at least in part.
That’s what made them so good.

He’s impersonating Paul Lynde.

I was so naive back in the day that I thought Lynde was just acting gay as part of his act. I had no idea he was really gay until years later.
To: fieldmarshaldj
I always thought it would he other way around .

Robin Williams has spoiled my comic taste quite a bit.
What I mean is, he was SO instantaneous and outrageous that no other comedian can compare.
THIS is my favorite

Well, Lynde was fagging it up a bit to be over the top, since he was, in turn, impersonating his friend Alice Ghostley with his schtick. Of course, you can’t see one of them without thinking of the other.

Watching that routine by Jonathan Winters, you can see where someone like Robin Williams would develop his intense love and adulation for the genius of Winters.

Back when I was younger, I remember a Carson segment that Winter’s showed paintings he had done. One was of a field of trees with white birds in all the trees & one black bird flying into the scene & Winter’s said he titled that painting, “There goes the neighborhood!”. You could not tell that joke now. It was funny then & would be today, either direction!

I admit I am attracted to humor that makes fun of everyone, not just non-protected persons!
