I like to teach my geeks some of the history of electronics and computing. Good Lord, it is a short history, really. It is mind-numbing that humankind came so far, so fast. We rode on the shoulders of giants.

Watch John Cocke: A Retrospective of Friends. The man was stunning. Then watch the raw footage I worked from. I let John ramble and used a whole minute of his talking because it was essential John, even if a video no/no. He thought I knew what he was talking about and used to pin me in the hall, talk at me and walk away. Husband was asked to take the task of following him and writing down what John said, but wanted to do his own thing. Everyone who did that became famous. EVERYONE describing John independently used the term “gentleman.”
