I saw her years ago on the street in Manhattan. I was such an idiot fan. She was the first famous celebrity I ever saw in person, and I couldn't believe that I had actually met somebody from the movie world.

I kept saying "Are you Linda Hunt. I loved you in The Year of Living Dangerously." But she didn't want to talk. I guess she was a very private person, and back then probably had good reason for keeping a low profile.

I can relate...I was a kid in NYC, and would freak out whenever I saw celebrities on the street. Imagine how verklempt I was when I brushed shoulders with Montgomery Clift on Broadway! And when Vic Damone invited me and a bunch of kids backstage at a concert in Central Park! He gave us all Coca-Cola and cookies! And when I interviewed Julius La Rosa on the roof of the NBC Studio for my high school newspaper! Not to mention my fan visit to Pee Wee Reese’s home in Flatbush, where his lovely wife invited me and my gang to sit on the front porch for lemonade and brownies! It was a treat to be a kid in NYC back in the forties and fifties.
