That is the exact reason I run Linux.
I'm tired of messing and fiddling with Windows, and being subject to their idea of when I should upgrade or not.

But you had to install it. And you had to make sure all of your software works with it.
I compare it to a car. I expect to buy it, turn the key, change the oil, replace the tires, rinse and repeat for a few hundred thousand miles.

(So you're not confused, I'm using my wife's account.)

Ditto - I've been running some variant of Linux at home for probably 15+ years. I've been working on Linux or a Unix variant at work for closer to 25. I run Linux Mint at home on my laptop and desktop as you say exactly because it doesn't require any fooling around. I install it - the next version - and it simply works. It finds my printer, it finds thumb drives, it comes with LibreOffice... About the only thing I do is add a couple of favorite apps - which is an operation requiring only a few mouse clicks and a few minutes. My wife's windows laptop OTOH...{shudder}...a seemingly never ending series of frustrations.
But hey, the real message is, use what works for you - Linux, Windows, MacOS...
