Thanks. Some posters are pointing out that President Trump will be but a pause in the Left’s march through our institutions . . . unless our governing institutions are fixed through Article V.
To extend the winning, President Trump should back an Article V COS after his reelection in 2020.
Fixed is right. Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it.
Perhaps a quick example: I think should an article V event take place in this period of time, the media would make it a spectacle like no other. The left’s ideas highlighted, like second amendment, immigration reform, Roe V Wade, race hatred, LHTQ and the correct issues ignored like the repeal of the seventeenth amendment.
H in reference to the correct non PC word to describe what should be indescribable.
People who died 50 years ago wouldnt recognize the country now.
I am sure Cass Sunstein has several ready to go.
Ryan was chosen for a reason
He is leaving the House at the end of his term to cash in on K Street. So he would be the perfect ‘statesman’ figure to preside. The permanent government has the money and hundreds of hacls and ‘think tank whores at their command. Regular people have to work evefy day and don’t have the timr or enerhy to deal with swamp machinations
The institutions are NOT the root of the problem.
Voters are the root of the problem. As are feckless parents who send their children into government schools. Most “conservatives” should look in the mirror if they want to understand the real reason our institutions are messed up. We dropped the ball. Time to pick it up. It starts in our own families.
The socialists won’t even need a convention if their numbers continue to increase. They will simply do what Bill Ayers thought was necessary all along.
I’m fairly sure (90%?) that once the delegates meet, that among them they choose a presiding officer. Remember, precedent would be followed, and there were many conventions prior to 1776 of 2 or more colonies; and that’s how it worked then.
Seems to me that a “Ryan/Ryno” would be out of the question to be involved. Indeed, it would negate the very essence of COS - as Ryno is not a state kind of guy in any way shape or form. He can’t elect himself as chair of a COS.
I believe the “statesman” that would preside would be someone who embodies the spirit of the state side of federalism.
I am opposed to a Constitutional Convention!
What we are learning is that the “Deep State” is very well entrenched in WDC. I have no confidence that the Deep State will not have the upper hand at such a convention, and will subvert it to their purpose.
What we need to do is ensure that the current U.S. Constitution is upheld. If amendments are needed (Congressional/Senatorial term limits and a balanced budget come immediately to mind!), Congress should get off their ass and pass them!
You might wish to read The Federalist #62. Then again, maybe not.
People from 50 years ago wouldn’t recognize the u.s. today. This is what happens.
A better question: do you recognize it from 20 years ago?
The objections in this thread are so frightfully stupid that I think I fear the appalling ignorance of conservatives even more than the leftist drift in the culture.
How depressing!
I dont recognize it now.
I barely recognize it now.
A CoS to simply repeal the 16th and 17th amendments to the USC would be a huge victory for freedom and the republic.
