El wrongo mighty one. Bilge is defined as an enclosed portion of a boat. It must be accessible from a hatch and able to ventilate from a fan and have a pump.

I’ve owned 2 Bertha s and a Carolina whaler. Self draining open transoms are not bilges.

Oh my, so knowledgeable, this el wrongo knows when she's been beat. You've owned 3 whole boats!! I guess all those “boats” back in the old days before modern motors didn't have bilges. And the ships I've assisted inspecting that have doorways and ladder/stairs don't have bilges, whew - who knew?

I never mentioned “open transoms” and just because a vessel has a self draining cock pit does not mean it doesn't have a bilge. But your 3 boat ownership certainly trumps my 200 gross ton unlimited masters ticket!

I could go on but I'm not in the mood, I don't like to use sarcasm but you started it.

P.S. 50 years experience boating, working, racing on the water.
