Sure there is- especially when it serves more than one purpose- Culling is a very necessary part conservation of species- AND the meat taken during sport hunting goes to villagers, and like my previous post states- sport hunting provides much needed income to very low income native people and helps not only the species being hunted, but many other species as well. Study hte issue of culling- animals starving to death because of overpopulation and diseases is actually less humane

If that is the case in this matter, that’s fine, but I would not be the one to kill this animal. This isn’t something that I want to do.
Right, but the only reason this is working is because someone is willing to pay to be the one to make all those good things happen after the culling of this animal. If it is a challenge, alright, I wouldn’t do it myself but I can see it. If it is like killing a chicken level of difficulty then it is way weird.

That’s a lot of meat, and I am glad to know that it was not wasted.
Giraffe marrow is not something that I know about, but I would try it, because I will try any kind of food at least once, and if I like it, I will eat it again, even stuff that raises eyebrows. You never know what’s really good.

Still, this kill is not something that I would do myself. I don’t want that weight on me. It might not be weight to this hunter, but it would be weight to me.

no but they show up and offer to butcher the meat for us so we don’t have to do the dirty work ourselves is the point i was getting at- Anti-hunters who eat meat rail against hunters, yet think nothing about going to the grocery store to buy a couple pounds of hamburger or chicken or lamb or fish or whatever- They make the false claim that it’s ok for them to eat meat because the animal’s life ‘didn’t go to waste’- Yet they totally discount the fact that trophy hunting meat gets utilized by native populations as well in almost all cases

Giraffes are not docile by any stretch of the imagination.
Maybe you missed this part of the article where they tell you, the reader, that this animal had already killed four, count them FOUR other younger giraffes who were of breeding age.
Docile? I don’t think so.
Imagine your grandfather wandering around the neighborhood killing 25 year old men. Because that’s the human equivalent.

Exactly- trees die, many many animals get affected- squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, martins, birds of many kinds, heck even insects that live on trees get wiped out- removing yet another source of food for birds- on and on it goes-
Look what is happening in florida- Pythons and Boas are absolutely devastating the everglades and wiping out entire species because the snakes are populating like crazy and there aren’t enough people to cull them quick enough. There was an article here not long ago stating that over 90% of the animals in that region are simply gone- The snakes are eating everything and wiping out food sources for those animals that they don’t eat- so those animals disappear as well
Managing nature is a tricky thing
What would you think if they showed up and asked to pay you to do this job? Kinda odd, right?
The responsible management of domestic and wild species includes culling. I don’t blame the natives at all for taking advantage of this market, either way. I’m glad the meat gets used and they are getting paid for the privilege of eating it.
