Russia's soccer federation has been fined by FIFA because a fan displayed a neo-Nazi banner at a World Cup game. FIFA's disciplinary panel ordered the Russian soccer body to pay 10,000 Swiss francs ($10,100) for a ''discriminatory banner'' at the team's 3-0 loss to Uruguay in Samara.

For the life of me I cannot understand how any Russian can call himself a Neo-Nazi. Hitler hated Slavic people. He inflected a war on Russia the led to millions of deaths.

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either satire or opinion. Or both.)

It seems a bit of a stretch.
Most would have a difficult time connecting the banner with Hitler or NAZIs.

I must have missed the directive instructing all soccer teams to filter out and turn in for re-education, ALL team fanatics who show Nazi proclivities. Especially when your team loses.

"For the life of me I cannot understand how any Russian can call himself a Neo-Nazi. Hitler hated Slavic people. He inflected a war on Russia the led to millions of deaths."The 14th, 29th and 30th Waffen Grenadier Divisions of the SS, to name several, were comprised of Slavs -- Ukrainians, Russians, Belorussians. The 1st Cossack and the Georgian Legion, to name a couple of others, were Slavic units serving Nazi Germany. Beside the many POWs and conscripts that were forced into various static and support regiments, thousands of Slavs volunteered and served in a host of other units and organizations in the east, especially in anti-partisan roles.
I assume hatred of Communism was the primary motivating factor for most of them, rather than love of the Nazis.

Don't assume that there is any accuracy to this report. The Confederate battle flag is called neo-nazi. President Trump is called neo-nazi. Bibi Netanyahu is called a neo-nazi. FIFA is just as corrupt and with the same composition as the third world mob of rabble which is the UN "Human Rights" commission.

The article does not explain how this flag is considered NAZI.
Who is the photo of the man on the flag?
To: Flavious_Maximus
Other articles say it was some 1488 stuff, but none have picture of the banner.
