I was thinking about all of the “ordinary” men who have served when it ocurred to me that when I was a kid, virtually every adult man I knew was a vet. Serving was just part of being a man, including yours truly.

If I had it my way every male citizen 18-20 would serve in some capacity. I raised mine that way with 2 in the USMC and one 14 year old still at home looking into the Navy and a 15 year old daughter considering the chair umm I mean Air Force 😃.

I didn’t learn till years later that my Government teacher in high school, Reserve Major Thomas L. Morning, was a young second lieutenant on D Day when he led his men onto a hot Omaha Beach. He passed away in 2009.
