That’s funny. The Japanese are the craziest camera people in the world. Every Japanese citizen probably owns 12 camera each. But the launch pad camera was “fixed” and didn’t follow the missile up...just focused on the pad instead.
Arigato!

Liquid propellant seems to have been throttled.

Looked like flame coming out of the base of the rocket, not just the thrust chamber.
Another bad o-ring?

Sorry it failed, but ALL early German, Russian, U.S. (nasa, army, navy, and private ), Israeli, and Chinese missiles failed as well.
BTW, The tube seems “too strong (too heavy) “ compared to the common crumbling and bending of most other western missiles when the crash while still near vertical.

This sounds like a Japanese response to SpaceX, which is a good thing.

We did that very thing in the late 50’s. A lot.
It really is rocket science.

Looks like a fuel/oxidizer pump issue. Launch OK, then throttled back.

Now I see it! Yes. Bad o-ring, cracked pipe, turbo pump threw a blade, or?
Whatever it was interfered the propellant flow to the engine.
Gravity wins another round...

It looks like it’s underpowered. Not enough big flames.
How’s that for a technical description?

Lateral spurt of flame at about the 2 second mark, then black smoke (lack of oxidizer in the chamber?)
