Her own ‘persistence’ lies in coping with the scrutiny her life has been under. And she has mother Hillary to thank. ‘She gave me good advice early on — that it’s important to take serious criticism from serious people seriously, and ignore the rest.’
Chelsea now lives in New York with hubbie Marc Mezvinsky and children Charlotte and Aidan, in times that must make her jaw drop. After all, her father Bill, following the Monica Lewinksy affair, was impeached for far less than Trump’s catalogue of scandals. Does she think the orange one will survive another term?
‘I don’t have a crystal ball,’ says Chelsea, who works for the humanitarian organisation The Clinton Foundation and has said repeatedly she has no plans to run for office herself. ‘But I am focused on helping elect Democrats in November [at the midterms] so that we are more able to hold the administration accountable for its collision of corruption and confidence in cruelty.’
