? History repeats itself? That is how I think of it. For example, all this growing violence in opposition to a legitimate President... saw plenty of it with SDS, Vietnam protests... Alice's Restaurant [Red Hen]... etc.

If that’s what is meant, that is understandable. And true. I more think of it as looking at the past to help predict the future. It’s just that the word “proves” seems off and unclear. But I can mentally rearrange the phrase to your suggestion and be more comfortable.
