I came in to work and noticed that all our calendars, including from vendors had been removed.
From the supervisor was an email as follows:
A complaint has been made towards FMO for inappropriate material on walls. I have removed all the material and no more is to put up on walls. Sorry but it was bound to happen.
One of the "offending" items was a Hawaii calendar that had been up for SEVEN YEARS STRAIGHT! The photography and settings were phenomenal, but some snowflake that likely should never been allowed in the shop thought it somehow inappropriate.
No nudity, no blatantly provocative posing by the models, just great photos.
Even an OLD poster from the 1970's with a bunch of loggers on a monster stump was removed.
At least the small print of the (now deceased) shop's cat is still here.
Aargh, and UNNNNGH!
Just venting, thought I'd share it here.

It was a “Lucky” beer poster that said: 9 to 5 weren’t the working hours, those were the odds of making it home!

We have a policy that nothing is on the walls except company materials.
It was mostly enforced to prevent union organizing. My first experience in this was 1986. So this is not new.
We did not use that reason as the public reason—it was to prevent to possibility of conflicts.
If you are in “a shop” my guess is that is the real reason. When I was the nerdy kid in the office, I tried to sell the given reason. Now I just don’t let them tape stuff to the wall because I don’t want to pay to paint the wall when they change the posters.

Rigid Tool calenders were everywhere at the refinery where I worked.
A new GM arrived and they all came down back in ‘95.

To: Biggirl; Hotlanta Mike
I was mistaken: Hotlanta Mike translates it as “I hurt you”.
Did, didn’t, it’s more the cacophony I wanted to communicate anyway < BG >.
