CHICAGO (CBS) Twenty-two people were shot in Chicago on Monday, including 13 people shot in a span of one hour. Two people were killed, and the surviving victims included an 11-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy.
The most recent shooting left one man dead and three other people wounded late Monday night in the West Pullman neighborhood. Police said, at about 10:50 p.m., three people were standing outside near 123rd and Yale, when a 19-year-old man opened fire from a nearby gangway, shooting three people. An unknown person returned fire, hitting the gunman in the face and chest.
The 19-year-old gunman later was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
A 13-year-old boy was shot in the arm, and was being treated at Comer Childrens Hospital, where his condition was stabilized. An 18-year-old woman was shot in the thigh, and a 16-year-old boy was shot in the foot. Both were taken to Christ, where their conditions were stabilized.
About five minutes before that shooting, six people were shot in an attack in the Bronzeville neighborhood. Police said the victims were standing in Ellis Park near 37th and Vincennes around 10:45 p.m., when an unknown person began shooting.

Different states and cities and towns have their own "slang"/words for things that outsiders don't understand. When we moved to Chicago, I had less than no idea what a "gangway" meant and asked, because I just didn't understand what people were talking about. Since I don't know that this terminology is used anywhere else, when I saw it in the article, I decided to explain what the word means...in Chicago. Otherwise, many people , here, wouldn't understand where the shooter was firing from. :-)
If I was out of the house after supper in the summer it was probably due to playing baseball or down at the river trying to catch fish and I had to be in before the street lights came on........
I guess I missed out on all the fun today's Chicago kids enjoy..........
Yep...Time for the “Hogg Patrol”.....
I guess so. *sigh*
No Whitey around to blame, so no media hysteria.
Nope. Obviously a typo. Chicago has strict gun control. Hence the lack of gun related crime.
Gang Banging thugs separating families PERMANENTLY
That should be a poster on a post office wall.
If “celebrities” were to turn their attention to every shooting that occurs and protest the hell out of it, there wouldn’t be any time to make their movies. Since it would take up too much of their time, they skip out of the protests. They have a certain lifestyle to maintain. Their yachts, private planes, and 50,000 square foot mansions are more important to them. Not a few nameless, faceless types that means nothing to them. It’s far safer in their gated communities than the Wild West of Chicago, Detroit, Memphis, and all the other high murder-rate cities in America. There’s no money in them for them.
“opened fire from a nearby gangway”. What an appropriate name.
Ground zero for gun confiscation.
Maybe we should build a wall around this neighborhood pour in truckloads of firearms and wait.
The problem should work itself out.
This is Trump’s fault again, isn’t it?
22 on a Monday? Was there some holiday that I missed?
It would be over in less than a week if they cut funds on the EBT cards too.
Yeah didn’t you hear, Rahm declared it Bust a Cap in Homie’s ass Monday. Winners get a badge of honor among his boys and the Piece his bitch just dropped.
Fourth of July going to be a record setter
Nothing like a Democratic party controlled city for gun safety. See what happens when you disarm the law abiding citizens.
no calls of outrage though
