Why? The owner of the bodega is not responsible for the wellbeing of everyone who visits his local store.
He might not have even known the kid and did not wish to engage in a fight between strangers.
This occurred in a place where if he HAD intervened with the proper tools, he would assuredly be in prison. He was in a tough spot.

The bodega owner knew the kid, didnt intervene at all and waited way too long to call the police.....maybe I’m different but I’m gonna try to help that kid one way or the other but you’re right, if NYC didnt have such restrictive 2A laws the owner and others could have prevented this altogether.
