“I thought the Tesla 3s were already out? Ive seen quite a few of them in recent weeks”
Yes they are, the big battery Option laden long range version. Not the base model 3 with a significantly shorter range and no tricked out Auto Pilot feature. (unless you cough up another 8K)
He also admits to being a socialist aka communist.

200 thousand spontaneous fires sounds a bit high... According to the National Fire Protection Association there were 174,000 car fires in 2015, the last year they have stats for. They actually have stats going back to 1980 when there were 456 thousand car fires. The overwhelming majority of vehicle fires were caused by accident... A car colliding with another car or object. Outright engine fires do occur and they usually occur because of poor engine maintenance or aftermarket installs, not manufacturing defects. Pretty much every Tesla fire can be traced to poor production quality and manufacturing defects.
Electric cars will never be affordable by common vehicle buyers, and the only reason why they’re even somewhat affordable to the rich and famous is because of government tax subsidies... Without them, there would be no electric car market except for the market that existed previous to subsidies... Vehicle Geeks and rich people with plenty of money to blow. Electric vehicles have been around since the beginning of the 20th century and who knows... In another century or two, maybe they will even be practical. As of today... They are not.
That’s why of the 17+ million vehicles sold each year in the United States alone... Less than 100 thousand of so are Electric cars.
“Does the $35,000 include a fire extinguisher?”
they’ll need dual fire extinguishers for the dual-motor version ...
“Over 200,000 gas powered cars self-ignite each year in the US! this is a much higher rate than for electric cars.”
that would be one self-igniting gas car for every 16,000,000 miles driven in a year in the U.S.
I wonder what that figure would be for Teslas?
I love the fact he’s fleecing the green crowd to pay for space exploration and colonization.
Since when is snarkn prohibited?
...
Since when is pointing it out prohibited?
“They can make 5000 a week, but can they sell them?
Tesla will sell every last one of them.
Battery-powered cars are here to stay. They’re the future.”
The electric power utilities hope so.
Tesla touts are fond of quoting stats for the highest end models but the price from the lowest-priced models of which none are actually available.
Typical current price of Tesla 3 actually delivered is around $50k. Typical Tesla S delivered price is well north of $100k.
They can make 5000 a week, but can they sell them?
Tesla will sell every last one of them.
...
Yep, there’s a long waiting list of people who have already paid deposits.
Tesla is sitting $600 million in deposits from as long as two years ago. So long that around 25% of depositors want their money back because Tesla can’t deliver.
100+ cars per hour for a new production model? Doubtfull.
The question is: how long before the fill all the orders for model 3’s already on the books. Musk’s model 3 has been vapor ware for many months.
There are a lot of so-called conservatives that hate to see others become successful. Always want to tear them down. 100% negative, all the time.
A $35,000 car.
5,000 produced per week.
That's 260,000 cars *per year*.
According to this site,
that rate of production would be about the same as the demand for the Tesla (#1 in sales as of Feb 2018) and the Toyota Prius (#2 in sales) combined.
Not sure what the backlog is like.
Methinks a tall order.
“100+ cars per hour for a new production model? Doubtfull.”
Saint Elon has never meet a production goal in his Tesla history. So I would say that is a safe bet!
Ok captain obvious.
A co-worker ordered a Tesla and was told there was 1 year wait. I told him it will be longer as the one he ordered was taken off the line and strapped on a rocket and is now heading towards the asteroid belt. It will be back in earth orbit in the year 2525.
Maybe not but Elon Musk and his P.C. sure is boring.
