Numbers Show House GOP Still in Deep Trouble

. The NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released Thursday morning had both good and bad news for President Trump and his party. The good news was that optimism about the direction of the country and the percentage of people believing that the economy is improving are both up from the last NBC/WSJ poll in April. Not surprisingly, the president’s job approval was up, as we have seen in other polling of late.

The bad news for Trump and the GOP is that even with that hopeful news, Republicans are 10 points behind Democrats on the closely-watched generic congressional ballot, while the president’s numbers—albeit improved — are still really bad and underwater. Democrats have a substantial advantage in intensity going into this midterm election, and respondents said, by a very wide margin, that they prefer voting for a candidate that would provide a check on Trump. In short, people see things as getting better, but Republicans — particularly in the House — are still in deep trouble.

The nationwide survey of 900 registered voters, conducted jointly by Democratic pollster Fred Yang of Hart Research and Republican pollster Bill McInturff of Public Opinion Strategies, showed the share of voters believing that the country is headed in the right direction was up 5 points from the April NBC/WSJ poll, from 31 to 36 percent, while those saying off the country was off on the wrong track was down 7 points, 62 to 55 percent. The late Richard Wirthlin, who served as President Reagan’s pollster and popularized the right-direction/wrong-track question, used to refer to it as “the Dow Jones indicator of American politics,” a useful barometer of midterm-election mood.

The Democrats are forcing the breakup of families at the Border with their horrible and cruel legislative agenda. Any Immigration Bill MUST HAVE full funding for the Wall, end Catch & Release, Visa Lottery and Chain, and go to Merit Based Immigration. Go for it! WIN!

This is what has transpired this afternoon in Breitbart context

White House stated that President Donald Trump actually supports Speaker Paul Ryan’s plan to offer amnesty to children of illegal immigrants in exchange for modest border security proposals. “The President fully supports both the Goodlatte bill and the House leadership bill,” White House Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah told reporters in a statement. Shah’s remarks clarified Trump’s comment in a Friday morning interview on Fox and Friends that he would not sign the “more moderate” bill on immigration, which is the leadership version of an immigration compromise with Republican moderates. The president’s remarks threw House Republican leaders into chaos for most of Friday afternoon as they tried to clarify his position. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise told Breitbart News that he would not whip votes for any bill not supported by the president. The president has not personally endorsed the Ryan bill. Shah insisted that Trump was actually referring to the “discharge petition” signed by moderate Republicans and Democrats to force a vote in the House on DACA amnesty. He confirmed that Trump would be willing to sign either bill proposed by Republicans. “He would sign either the Goodlatte or the leadership bills,” Shah said. Speaker Ryan is expected to call a vote on both bills next week, although neither of them is likely to earn enough of the 218 Republican votes needed to pass the House. The nearly 300-page bill proposed by Speaker Ryan would offer amnesty to at least 1.8 million DACA-qualified illegal immigrants as well as amnesty for about 75,000 children of temporary foreign guest workers in exchange for $25 billion in wall funding and a temporary reduction to legal immigration.

I did read it and again, Ryan won't be around for the next election.

That will fire up the Trump base even more.
