Thanks, glad this sentiment exists because frankly, I am having second thoughts about travelling in the western US this summer with my Cdn licence plates. So many comments about various countries assume that everyone there thinks the same way and supports their government or elites.
In Canada, we have probably the same number of anti-globalist types that you have there, but our Conservative Party is currently being run by globalists and has taken a very weak stand in the current situation. I know that in some parts of Canada sentiment is more pro-Trump than our urban elites might realize or care to acknowledge, but with a very small number of public-profile people in agreement with us, the point of view is not often heard against the steady drumbeat of anti-Trump rhetoric.
It was the same when Reagan was in office and I’m sure nowadays quite a few Canadians would name Reagan as the best American president of recent decades, although I’m guessing Clinton would get more support for that.
I love Canadians. In fact, I like every Canadian I know, including a couple that are libs. Pretty honest, friendly and trusting folks.
My only criticism about Canadian People is driving in the left lane on American highways. Please move over for the speeders. ;o/
You folks are always welcome in the lower 48.
Just remember it’s Miles per hour, not kilometers...
(We like to visit up north around Thunder Bay in the fall.)
If I were to see Trudeau's motorcade driving through my town I'd very probably give him a vigorous "thumbs down"...and nothing more. However, for an ordinary Canadian? No problem in my mind. And I'll bet that the typical American has the same attitude.
And just FYI...on those occasions when I drive to Montreal (once or twice a year) I get the nastiest looks from people with my Massachusetts plates and Trump bumper sticker...but I know that that just might be a Quebec thing. And I also know that I get more than a few dirty looks here in the home of Ted Kennedy *and* Princess Liawatha! ;-)
And BTW...it’s sad to say that most Americans would see your car and say “Manitoba? Is that near Oklahoma?”
I also bet, if you went say 5 years back into Macleans, you would not find a single article describing Russia as a geopolitical enemy. Seems to be all the rage now among the left to regard as 100% fact all the fake news about Russian interfering in elections.
