A very good point. Which also describes how I define a good city: by who's coming and going. IOW, are makers moving in? Or out? Just looked at Nashville's stats. To my mind, anyway, the stats look very problematic. More takers moving in and makers moving out. Ditto for the other cities you mentioned that I had a chance to check. Any city on the wrong end of my makers to takers ratio is not a place I'd want to live. FWIW. :-)

Nashville is overrun with hipsters and Yankees who overlap
But to their credit they are here to work
Nashville is arguably America’s boomtown today
In fact the folks who are the issue welfare wise are being supplanted
By folks who work.....often liberals who work ....yes some do
The family oriented more conservative newcomers go to the burbs not much new there
I don’t get this notion that the unemployed are who fuel boom towns or cities with growth
It’s the exact opposite
The taker towns are not having folks moving in
Detroit
Memphis
Cleveland
St. Louis
But this notion a democrat run city has to be a hellhole I sure simply wrong, if there is enough money they do ok...it’s when white flight starts and money starts running out
But some cities because of their sheer momentum just prevail
Like the USA in spite of Obama 8 years
Indianapolis is GOP mayor...but it’s got issues
Dallas has Democrat mayor as does Nashville but both are much better places to live
That’s my point
So what top 100 cities do you approve of as livable
