I pay cash in restaurants after having a prepaid debit card drained. At least it was only $100 and after a hassle I got the money back.
But I learned not to trust cards in restaurants.
And I never use a debit card linked to my checking account.

And I never use a debit card linked to my checking account” I use a credit card for everything and when I see a charge I dont recognize I call Chase and tell them to remove it, and they do.
Most CCs come with that type of protection.
And they pay cash rewards for charging, cash (the Federal Reserve)doesnt do that,
