Point made as as an airplane nut that slipped by, the new GE Gen series have that as a key visible element

BTW all of the Rolls Royce engines have been pulled from the 787 due to earlier than planned turbine failures. They are the ones who decades ago developed the Merlin power plant used in many aircraft like the Spitfire, P-51, Mosquito and Lancaster bombers. Love that engine sound

If you love the Merlin sound you should come up here and visit the Bomber Command museum in Nanton, Alberta. They have a Lancaster bomber there and once a month they roll it out and fire up the four Merlins. It’s really something!

They’re also going to restore a Halifax bomber, in which more Canadians (like my Dad!) served than the Lancaster. Its Hercules engines don’t sound as great, though, alas.
