Seems to me the Soviets wanted the Korean peninsula for the ports access to the Pacific Ocean. Why would they help?

At the same time Truman was having to deal with all of the Soviet spies that FDR had embedded in the State Department and throughout the rest of the Federal government.
Pretty much like “The Deep State” Trump is also having to deal with.
