In a bizarre turn of events, President Donald Trump told reporters on Friday he wants to ask NFL players who knelt during the national anthem to suggest more people for him to pardon.
Before heading to the G-7 summit in Canada, Trump addressed reporters outside the White House. When the topic of pardons arose, Trump surprised many by suggesting he'd take suggestions on who to pardon next from the same NFL players he bashed.
AFTER SAYING NO ONE SHOULD REMAIN IN THE LOCKER ROOMS DURING THE PLAYING OF THE NATIONAL ANTHEM, TRUMP INVITED PLAYERS TO GIVE HIM SUGGESTIONS FOR PARDONS
"We have a great country, you should stand for our national anthem, you shouldn't go in a locker room when our national anthem is playing," the president told reporters. "I'm going to ask all of those people to recommend to mebecause that's what they're protestingpeople that they think were unfairly treated by the justice system. And I understand that. I'm going to ask them to recommend to me people that were unfairly treated and I'm gonna take a look at those applications and if I find and my committee finds that they've been unfairly treated then we'll pardon them. Or at least let them out."
TRUMP'S SUGGESTION WAS VIEWED BY MANY AS JUST ANOTHER WAY FOR HIM TO UPSTAGE OBAMA
The pardon stuff is catnip for Trump: people have to beg him for mercy and thank him, he can do things for celebrities and get headlines with little effort, he can wield them strategically against Black protesters, he can say he did something for Black people that Obama didn't.
OTHERS BELIEVE AN IMMEDIATE PARDON WITHOUT TACKLING ACTUAL PRISON REFORM COULD BE A TRAP
Yes he does. Hes just trying to appeal to his base. Its a trap. Notice hes pardoning dead black men & now has the audacity to ask NFL players who he should pardon. He can kiss our black ass on that one. Thats an insult to every NFL player.
Donald J. Trump is missing the point. The system needs changes to avoid unfairly treating people of color resulting in arrests, harrassment, and incarceration. https://t.co/nU7s9nrmdy
Trump also said he was also considering a posthumous pardon for boxing legend Muhammad Ali who was jailed for dodging the draft to fight in the Vietnam War yet that would be quite unnecessary considering the Supreme Court overturned Ali's conviction in 1971. Also, Jimmy Carter granted a general pardon to draft dodgers in 1977.
He [wants to] say he did something for Black people that Obama didn't.
or "He say he did something for Black (capitalized?) people that Obama didn't."
Trump already has - JACK JOHNSON for starters and the list goes on from there like freakin' jobs.
Black leaders are up against the "INGRATE" wall and failing to persuade.

I thought Issa Trap was the guy they wanted pardoned next.
I guess the only correct answer is to IMPEACH!!!!!
If it were up to those morons they would put Alice Johnson back in jail..everything Trump is for, these morons are against
Never heard of him
same - see 3 - not kidding - when I first read and started posting that is exactly what I thought.
Maybe Issa Trap is a victim of unimaginable injustice, like going to prison for killing a cop after taking his gun and pistol whipping him.
One translation of what PDT said to the NFL was: Quit your bitching, stop hiding behind your dress (uniforms) and do something positive to correct the situation that you see is unjust.
Another translation: You are all talk and no walk!!!
Who wrote this? Caroline "like" Kennedy? I'm surprised it didn't not say "and people be like 'Issa Trap'". I'm an english writing illiterate but I could have gotten this right.
Who is Issa Trap?
I didnt know Admiral Ackbar spoke jive.
I never tire of being able to truthfully remark about Trumps actions by saying: WELL PLAYED, MR. PRESIDENT!
Release Roger!
Free Issa!
LOL!
